dsh-engineer-tools

Agents can technically run raw bash, but the output is often a wall of unparsed text where stdout, stderr, and exit codes blur together, and the permission boundary rests entirely on the bare command. dsh-engineer-tools takes the two highest-frequency engineering operations in daily work — git subcommands and package-manager invocations — and wraps them into structured Host Tools. Every call returns a tidy set of stdout, stderr, and exitCode fields, so the agent receives data it can act on directly instead of a log that needs a second pass of parsing.

Two tools carry the core capability. The git tool executes subcommands such as status, diff, log, branch, and show within the session workspace and returns structured result fields. The dev tool covers script invocations (test, build, lint, and more) and lifecycle commands (install, outdated, audit) across npm, pnpm, yarn, and bun; when the manager is set to auto it detects the correct tooling from the workspace lockfile. Both tools route through the dsh sandbox shell, inheriting workspace permissions and approval policies, so they never bypass the DSH.app security model.

It is built for developers who let an agent assist with day-to-day engineering tasks inside DSH.app: checking a diff between edits, kicking off a test run, or auditing a dependency list — without switching to a terminal to type the command by hand. The plugin is pure ESM with no build step, and extending it is as simple as copying one defineTool registration block inside apply(), saving the file, and restarting DSH.app.
