Writing a survey, double-checking a citation, or wrangling a .bib file has historically meant tab-switching between DBLP and your editor over and over. xby-dblp pulls that entire loop into a single chat session. It connects to the DBLP computer-science database via MCP, so you can run boolean queries with year and venue filters, fuzzy-match paper titles, pull every publication by a named author, and get at-a-glance statistics on publication ranges, top authors, and top venues—all without leaving the conversation.

On the search side, it supports and/or boolean query strings, publication-year bounds, and case-insensitive venue filtering, returning structured metadata including title, authors, DOI, and URL. On the citation side, it offers a collect-and-export workflow: after a search you add each paper by its DBLP key into a collection, assign your preferred citation key, and a single export command saves a clean .bib file. A venue-info call confirms the formal name, acronym, and type for conferences like ICLR or NeurIPS in one step, and a statistics tool quickly summarises any result batch by top authors, top venues, and year span.

It is built for researchers drafting systems, ML, or NLP papers, and for engineers who need to verify the exact venue and year of a reference mid-conversation. The API key is set once in chat and persists across sessions, with no local services to deploy or maintain.
